My Story

My name is Aliza Hammond, and I am the founder of A Mindful Herd. I am deeply passionate about creating meaningful connections and holding space for growth, healing and self-discovery.

As an ADF wife and mother, life has offered me both adventure and challenge. In recent years, I stepped away from the corporate world to realign with what truly matters — my health, my family and my purpose. This personal journey of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing has profoundly shaped the work I now offer and strengthened my commitment to supporting others in their own journeys.

Connection has always been central to who I am — connection to people, animals and the natural world. Throughout life’s challenges and transitions, my herd has been a constant source of grounding and strength. Horses have an extraordinary ability to respond to what is happening beneath the surface. They invite presence, awareness and authenticity in a way that feels safe and non-judgemental. Experiencing this firsthand inspired me to create a therapeutic space where others can benefit from that same powerful connection.

A Mindful Herd is built on the belief that healing happens in environments grounded in safety, empathy and mutual respect — much like a healthy herd. My work integrates evidence-based, trauma-informed counselling practices with equine-assisted therapeutic experiences, creating opportunities for regulation, reflection and meaningful growth.

I am committed to providing compassionate, client-centred care while also working collaboratively with families, schools, allied health professionals and referring services to ensure each individual feels supported, understood and empowered.

It is a privilege to walk alongside those seeking healing, resilience and a deeper connection with themselves.
